Top 100 Dozen, 6x Hoddles Creek Estate Pinot Noir 2015, 6x Hoddles Creek Estate Chardonnay 2015

Both wines recently featured in James Halliday's Top 100. The Estate Pinot Noir 2015 has been sold out for months, but I decided to release some museum stock. The Chardonnay looks fantastic from a great year, with  potential to age for 10 years +.

Wine Companion tasting note.

Estate-grown, six clones separately fermented, 25% whole bunches, 21 days on skins, matured for 10 months in French oak (25% new). Superb colour, both in hue and clarity; the perfumed bouquet of red berries and plums sets the scene for the perfectly balanced and very long palate, with a contrast between its juicy fruits and fine-grained tannins. This is a ridiculous bargain, whether enjoyed tonight or in a decade.

Eight estate-grown clones, 80% crushed and destemmed, 20% whole bunches, mix of wild and cultured yeasts, 100% barrel-fermented in French oak (25% new), matured for 10 months. Sits comfortably alongside its Pinot Noir sibling, with the same attention to detail and similar over-delivery against price expectations. White peach, melon grapefruit and French oak are spun so tightly together it's hard to weigh up their individual contributions, and not necessary to do so.
